“Christopher Watson's beauty of sound appears effortless, yet he brings the impassioned moments directly to our attention with style.”

Christopher Watson is a singer with more than 20 years’ performance experience at the highest level. He sings with some of the world's leading Early Music ensembles, including The Tallis Scholars, with whom he has made more than 200 appearances, Alamire, Gallicantus and Collegium Vocale Gent. “Tenor Christopher Watson gives poised dignity”

As a consort musician his experience is second to none and he has covered an extensive range of repertoire from early Medieval music to contemporary works, including Stockhausen Berio and Pärt, and several World Premieres.

As a soloist he has worked with directors such as Paul McCreesh, Trevor Pinnock, Paul Hillier and Philippe Herreweghe, and ensembles such as Le Concert Lorrain, the Lautten Comagney, Concerto Copenhagen and the CBSO, with repertoire including Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, Bach and Stravinsky. He has made over 50 recordings, many of which have been internationally acclaimed, winning prizes including several Diapason d'Or and Gramophone Awards and a Grammy.

Alongside a busy schedule as a singer, Chris has a burgeoning career as a conductor, running the Oxford-based chamber choir Sospiri with the composer John Duggan. With Sospiri he has made 5 CDs and has directed them in concert in France, Italy and the UK. He also directed a CD of the music of Martin Bruce, and has worked as a chorus master with the renowned Danish vocal ensemble Ars Nova Copenhagen.
